Linear Algebra
A college /university level course
Course Start Date: 21 May 2016
Course Overview :
Linear Algebra is a paper which is useful in the study many other fields of mathematics, like Functional Analysis, Complex Analysis etc. It is applied in other branches of science too.
In this course I will start with the basics, so the pre requisites are minimum. A plus two level mathematics knowledge will be assumed.
Anyone who uses linear algebra in their work or studies can use my course. The Math students who happen to have missed out the regular classes or those who could not follow the topic in their class can also benefit from my class.
I will cover the following topics: vector spaces, linear transformations and matrices, solving simultaneous equations, Canonical forms of matrices, Eigen vectors and Eigen values
Course Outlines :
There will be problems solved and assignments given If you have any questions regarding the topic, I will try to clarify during the class.
One can use any standard Linear Algebra course but if I need to suggest one particular text book, that would be Hoffman and Kunz.
Course Package :
Live classes : 30 <recording downloadable>
Presentations : 30
Assignments: 10
Course Outcomes :
At the end of this course, you will be comfortable with the basics of Linear Algebra and apply it to other fields of mathematics and other branches of science whatever your requirement may be.
Language of instruction: English
- Useful for beginners
- Useful for Math undergraduate students and Engineering students
- Professionals who require basic linear algebra too can benefit
I have 18 years of teaching experience at various universities. I have a Doctorate degree in Mathematics Though my PhD is in the area of analysis, I have been teaching the standard courses for Master's students like topology, real and complex analysis, Measure theory functional analysis etc. I have also taught undergraduate courses like calculus, number theory linear algebra, algebra etc
